Masters with Distinction in Research Methods in Politics/ International Relations, The University of Sheffield (2003/04). Dissertation: Humanitarian Intervention in Contemporary International Society.

MA (Hons) Politics. Upper Second Class (2.1), The University of Glasgow (1997-2002). Dissertation: Myth and Modernity in the Third Reich.



Current Position:

David Tobin is currently undertaking the MA Contemporary China programme at Manchester University, before embarking on a year's full-time language study in China and 3 years of doctoral research.



Research Interests:
  • Identity Politics
  • Conceptualising the Chinese state
  • International Relations Theory, particularly on the relationship between identity and security
  • Nationalism
