Current Research
The rise of socio-economic relations across the Taiwan Straits and the impact of social movements (including immigration, women’s, economic, and student movements and lobby groups) on the policy-making process. How civic actors may utilise both public and private sector resources to not only press for policy change, but also act independently of the state; challenging government institutions through the development of informal support mechanisms.

Social-economic networks and transnational actors in the domestic/foreign policy process/debate
Changing relationship between businesses and governments in Mainland China
Impact of economic development on state structures, institutions, and decision-making processes in Taiwan and Mainland China.
